This rare pair of antique suede gloves, dating to the early Biedermeier period (circa 1825), is a remarkable example of Regency-era fashion accessories. Crafted from soft, fine suede, the gloves are exceptionally long, reaching up to the upper arm, and feature original cream-colored silk ribbons used to fasten them securely - an elegant solution typical of the time.
These gloves were likely worn with puffed-sleeve dresses, as seen in portraits of fashionable ladies from the period. The tops of the hands are adorned with delicate yellow silk embroidery, showcasing expert hand-sewn craftsmanship and adding a refined decorative touch. The gloves retain very good color and condition, with only a slight patina consistent with their age.
Please note: decorative items shown in some images are not included.
This rare and beautifully preserved pair is ideal for collectors of early 19th-century fashion, Biedermeier textiles, or museum-quality accessories, offering a tactile link to the elegance and artistry of 1820s European style.
